I got my first fiddle at the tender age of 6 and have been playing for more years than I care to think of.  While classically trained through the Royal Academy of London in my teens,  I was also taught Traditional Scottish fiddling , which was the main style I enjoyed and concentrated on.

I started teaching 30 years ago and have taught at various schools including Bunbury Grammar and Frederick Irvine Schools. I have won many Folk Music Competitions as the lead fiddler and I  have also run several workshops at State and National festivals around Australia. Band experience has been almost entirely with Scottish Country Dance music, Australian Folk dancing and music of the bush over  a period of thirty years.

Regardless of the type of music a student may want to play eventually, I feel it is important to get a solid grounding in classical techniques for good bowing and fingering skills.
